Sex racket involving Tollywood actresses busted in US

Telugu film industry, Tollywood always seem to be surrounded with some sort of controversy. Just a few weeks ago, actress Sri Reddy raised charges against top persons of Tollywood of sexually abusing her. And again, a sex racket involving several Telugu actresses has been revealed in Chicago, US.

An Indian-origin, Kishan Modugumudi and Chandra Kala Purnima Modigumudi, was arrested in Chicago previous week for running a sex racket in the US. The couple had been traping Tollywood actresses on the name of shows and then pushing them into prostitution.
According to reports, the couple took six Indian actresses to the US. Initially, actresses were taken to Telugu conferences and other Indian meets and parties held across the US to attract potential customers.

One of the actresses arrived at O’Hare international airport in Chicago on November 20, 2017, from Delhi. She was travelling on a visa issued from Delhi on November 6, 2017, to be a part in an event organised by the Telugu Association Of South California (TASC) on November 18. After the two days of arrival the actress, she travelled to Chicago instead of California, authorities got suspicious and began inquiries.
When questioned, the actress said that she was in the country to attend another event hosted by the North America Telugu Society (NATS). However, when probe grew, they found that the actress’s statement was not true and that the president of NATS denied inviting the actress to the country.

The investigation revealed that a person named ‘Raju’ arranged her trip with all travel documents. ‘Raju’ later was found out to be Kishan Modugumudi. Her visa was revoked.

Yet another actress, who was invited for a Telugu event, was followed by the authorities. There were two more actresses, were also found involved in prostitution. They also took the name ‘Raju’.

The fifth actress was found out to be a popular Telugu and Kannada star, who was also invited by the American Telugu Association. Later, it was identified that she was advertised and used for commercial sex.
